Short answer: Kling is the cheaper way to buy raw 1080p footage if you can meet its $700 API minimum, and Vidu is the cheaper way to start small. Vidu Standard is $10 a month for 800 credits, which on Vidu's own credit schedule is about 33 seconds of Q3 Pro 1080p, while Kling's developer API charges $0.112 a second for Kling 3.0 at 1080p, or $0.168 with native audio. A 30 second ad with three takes per shot costs about $15 on Kling's API and about $27 on Vidu Standard credits, before script, voice and editing.

We read Vidu's plan data and API credit schedule on October 25, 2026, and Kling's membership page and developer rate card on October 15, 2026. The plan prices on both pages are current, but several price trackers still show Vidu at $9.99, $19.99 and $59.99, which no longer matches. Full breakdowns sit on our Vidu pricing page and our Kling AI pricing page. This article puts the two side by side for someone who has to make video ads, not clips.

Is Vidu cheaper than Kling?

On subscriptions, no. Kling Standard renews at $8.80 against $10 for Vidu Standard, and Kling Pro is $32.56 against $43 for Vidu Premium, which is the bigger gap. Vidu's price per credit runs from $0.0125 on Standard monthly down to $0.0096 on the best yearly tier, but a Vidu credit and a Kling credit are not the same unit, so the cheaper plan card does not mean cheaper footage.

On the API, Vidu looks cheaper per second. One Vidu API credit lists at 0.03125 RMB, so Q3 Pro at 1080p, which uses 24 credits a second, is 0.75 RMB a second. At 7.2 RMB to the dollar, our assumption rather than a Vidu price, that is about $0.10 a second against Kling 3.0's $0.112 without audio. Check the dollar price at Vidu's checkout before budgeting.

What does one clip cost on Vidu vs Kling?

RoutePer second at 1080p5 second clip8 second clip
Kling 3.0 API, no audio$0.112$0.56$0.90
Kling 3.0 API, with audio$0.168$0.84$1.34
Vidu Q3 Pro on API credits, about$0.10$0.52$0.83
Vidu Q3 Turbo on API credits, about$0.06$0.28$0.45
Vidu Q3 Pro on Standard plan credits$0.30$1.50$2.40
Vidu Q3 Turbo on Standard plan credits$0.16$0.81$1.30

The Vidu plan rows apply the API credit schedule to plan credits at $0.0125 each. Vidu does not publish app credit costs on its pricing page, so treat those rows as an estimate. They show something useful anyway. A plan credit is worth about three times an API credit, so a team generating a lot of footage pays much less through the API than through a subscription.

What a 30 second ad costs on Vidu vs Kling

A 30 second ad is roughly four to six shots, and each shot is usually rendered about three times before one is usable. That means generating around 90 seconds to keep 30.

RouteOne pass, 30 secondsThree takes, 90 seconds
Kling 3.0 API, with audio$5.04$15.12
Vidu Q3 Pro, API credits, about$3.12$9.38
Vidu Q3 Turbo on Standard plan credits$4.88$14.63
Vidu Q3 Pro on Standard plan credits$9.00$27.00
Vidu Q3 Pro on Ultimate yearly credits$6.90$20.70

None of these numbers include a script, a voice, captions or the time to cut shots together. They also assume the first generation of every shot looks like your actual product, which is the part that fails most often with a model that has never seen your packaging.

Vidu API credits vs Kling's $700 API package

Vidu lets you start an API wallet at 500 RMB for 16,000 credits, valid for a year, with up to five concurrent tasks and no charge for failed generations, including moderation rejections. Kling's smallest standard video package is $700 for 5,000 units and expires after 180 days with no rollover. If you are still testing, Vidu's entry is far easier to justify. If you already know you will render hundreds of clips, Kling's larger packages carry a 10 percent discount and its native audio at 1080p saves a separate voice step.

Which is better for ecommerce video ads, Vidu or Kling?

Pick Vidu if you want to test cheaply, you value reference-to-video with several product images, and you are comfortable with credits rather than a published dollar rate. Pick Kling if you need long 1080p shots, native audio, and a predictable per-second price you can multiply by a shot list. Pick neither as a final product: both hand you footage, and a store owner still needs a person on camera saying something about the product.

Before you commission either, it helps to spy on competitors' live ads and decide which hooks are worth recreating, because the cheapest clip is the one you do not have to regenerate.

What neither Vidu nor Kling gives you

Neither is a creator ad tool. You get a model that renders motion from a prompt or a reference image. You still write the script, record or synthesize a voice, add captions, trim, and export in nine by sixteen. UGCGen does that whole chain from a product URL, with a talking AI creator, voice, captions and several hook variations in one pass. It costs more per second of footage, and it removes the editing hours that raw clips leave you with. You can compare the two cost bases on our AI UGC pricing guide or generate a first ad from the homepage tool above.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kling cheaper than Vidu?

On subscription cards, yes. Kling Standard renews at $8.80 against $10 for Vidu Standard, and Kling Pro is $32.56 against $43 for Vidu Premium. Through developer APIs the two are close, with Vidu's Q3 Pro at about $0.10 a second on our exchange rate assumption and Kling 3.0 at $0.112 a second at 1080p.

How much does a Vidu video cost compared with Kling?

On Vidu's API schedule a five second Q3 Pro 1080p clip is 120 credits, about $0.52 on API credits or $1.50 on Standard plan credits by our arithmetic. Kling 3.0 at 1080p is $0.56 without audio and $0.84 with audio through its API. Kling shows its app credit costs only inside the product.

Do Vidu and Kling offer commercial use?

Both treat commercial use as a paid feature. Vidu lists commercial use and watermark-free download in its plan comparison, and Kling grants commercial rights to paid subscribers. Free tiers are for testing. Confirm the rights on your exact plan with a test export before you put a generated clip into a paid campaign.

Which has the cheaper API, Vidu or Kling?

Vidu has the lower entry cost, starting at 500 RMB for 16,000 credits, while Kling's API starts at a $700 package. Per second the two are close at 1080p. Vidu charges nothing for failed generations, and Kling's larger packages of 30,000 units and up carry a 10 percent discount on the unit price.

Is Vidu worth it for UGC style ads?

It is worth it for generating b-roll and product motion cheaply, not for a finished UGC ad. Vidu gives you footage that you still have to script, voice, caption and edit. If your goal is a talking creator ad ready to post, a UGC generator that handles the whole chain saves more time than the credit price difference.
